Video released of Dolton police fatally shooting 19-year-old woman

DOLTON (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Dolton police released video from officers’ body cameras of the fatal shooting last week of a 19-year-old woman, who drove away from a restaurant drive-up window with a police officer hanging on to her car.

There’s new information about the case involving Alexis Wilson, the woman who was shot to death by Dolton police.

Around 1 a.m. Tuesday, July 27, Dolton police were called to a restaurant, located at 685 Sibley Blvd., for a report of a woman in a vehicle who would not leave the restaurant's drive-through window, angry that the restaurant was closed, and reportedly had a gun.

Upon arrival, officers approached with guns drawn and ordered Wilson and her passenger out of the vehicle. The passenger complied, but Wilson drove off with an officer hanging on to the passenger side.

Both officers fired their weapons before Wilson crashed into a bike shop a block away. Wilson was dead at the scene.

The injured officer remains hospitalized.

An attorney for Wilson’s family believes the officers overreacted. He said the one hanging onto the car shot her seven times.
