Wienermobile gets in a pickle, crashes on Illinois Tollway

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A famous vehicle got into a fender bender on the Tri-State Tollway Monday morning.

Illinois State troopers were called to I-294 near Roosevelt Road around 11:15 a.m. for a crash involving  a Wienermobile.

State troopers said the hot dog shaped vehicle and a Hyundai were both going north on the tollway when the Wienermobile struck the car,  lost control and rolled over.

The Wienermobile was then towed away. There were no reported injuries.

A media representative for Kraft Heinz released a statement, which said in part that safety is a top priority and they're "offering ongoing support for your Hotdoggers."

Oscar Mayer actually has six identical Wienermobiles on the menu. They drive all over the country. It has upcoming stops scheduled in Round Lake Beach and at Chicago's Bud Billiken Parade.
