(670 The Score) The Bears won't retain running backs coach Chad Morton or cornerbacks coach Jon Hoke on the coaching staff led by new head coach Ben Johnson, a source confirmed Friday morning.
Morton worked one season for the Bears in 2024 after being hired by former head coach Matt Eberflus. Hoke spent the past two years as the team's cornerbacks coach, which marked his second stint in Chicago.
The Bears' lone coordinator currently still on staff is special teams coordinator Richard Hightower, who's considered an option to be retained in that role. Bears tight ends coach Jim Dray, defensive line coach Travis Smith, linebackers coach Dave Borgonzi and safeties coach Andre Curtis are the position coaches who have remained on staff as of Friday morning.
On Thursday, the Bears informed five coaches they won't be retained: interim head coach Thomas Brown, defensive coordinator Eric Washington, interim offensive coordinator/wide receivers coach Chris Beatty, offensive line coach/run game coordinator Chris Morgan and quarterbacks coach Kerry Joseph.
Johnson hasn't officially added anyone to his new staff, as he has been evaluating the old staff and opening up roles.
