David Haugh (0-1): Lions 31, Bears 27
If you think it’s going to be loud Sunday at Ford Field in Detroit, imagine the noise in Chicago when Ben Johnson’s team returns 0-2. Yes, the Lions lost several coaches from last year, but their roster remains one of the NFL’s best. The Bears aren’t there yet.
Matt Spiegel (0-1): Lions 24, Bears 17
For the Bears, 0-2 with a long way to go ain't gonna feel great, but the long-term payoff will be worth it.
Chris Emma (0-1): Lions 20, Bears 16
There's great intrigue as Ben Johnson returns to Detroit to lead his team on the road for the first time. At the core of this matchup are two teams that really want to avoid starting 0-2. The Bears will come up short once again in losing to the Lions.
Paul Pabst (0-1): Lions 30, Bears 24
Both teams opened with disappointing losses. The Lions looked shaky for four quarters. The Bears looked shaky for two quarters. It's hard to picture this Lions team going 0-2, and they’re favored by six. My predictions – no more gray T-shirt under your jersey and the Lions win.
Alex Kuhn (1-0): Bears 24, Lions 20
The Bears go on the road, and Caleb Williams looks much better. The health of the Chicago defense pays dividends for a unit that will frustrate a Detroit offense that struggled mightily against Green Bay last week.
Jakob Stutz (0-1): Lions 28, Bears 24
The Bears offense slightly bounces back, looking more consistent from start to finish, but the Lions’ talent and the road environment ends up being too much to handle for Chicago. Caleb Williams has a solid game, but the Lions earn the win.
Sean Sears (1-0): Lions 31, Bears 21
It’s hard to imagine this isn’t a “get right” game for Detroit. Dan Campbell’s crew is foaming at the mouth for its first win of the season, and nothing cures a hangover quite like facing the Bears. Ben Johnson, now wearing the headset in Chicago, will have some tricks dialed up against his old team — but if the Lions can crank up the pressure on Caleb Williams, those tricks won’t matter much. In the end, the Lions steady the ship and the Bears stumble to 0-2.
Tyler Ferengul (0-1): Lions 22, Bears 19
I expect this to be another close NFC North battle, but I have to go with the home team. Jared Goff has struggled in the past against the Bears’ defense, but Chicago’s offense struggled to get going early in both games between these teams last year. In his return to Detroit, Ben Johnson and the Bears come up just short of a win, falling to 0-2 to start the season. The Lions bounce back from their ugly showing at Lambeau Field and take down their former offensive coordinator to improve to 1-1.
Clint Clouse (0-1): Lions 26, Bears 22
So, how about that opening Bears drive? It showed a lot of promise for what Caleb Williams could look like in Ben Johnson’s offense. Unfortunately, by the end of the game, J.J. McCarthy looked like the better quarterback and Williams looked like he did for most of last year. He was inaccurate and missed open receivers downfield while trying to be Superman. That's why Johnson was brought to Chicago – to develop Williams into a quality NFL quarterback. Now, Johnson is going back to Detroit, the place he established himself as one of the best play-callers in the NFL. Both teams are going bring extra motivation to this game. I think Johnson will have something special play cooked up for his former team. I also believe the Lions will run the ball against a Bears defense that might be missing a couple importance pieces.
Robbie Triano (0-1): Lions 83, Bears 0
Welcome back to Detroit, Ben Johnson. I bet your kneecaps taste great. Go Lions.
