Jaguars to hire James Gladstone as GM; Bears assistant GM Ian Cunningham was a finalist

(670 The Score) Bears assistant general manager Ian Cunningham will remain in Chicago.

Cunningham was a finalist for the Jaguars' general manager job, but Jacksonville has hired Los Angeles Rams executive James Gladstone to fill the position.

Cunningham has served as the Bears’ assistant general manager since 2022, when he was hired on by current general manager Ryan Poles.

Cunningham has been a general manager candidate in past hiring cycles, though he has remained with the Bears. Cunningham previously worked for the Ravens (2008-'16) and Eagles (2017-'21) before joining the Bears.

“He can be an NFL GM, and he can be a CEO of a Fortune 500 company,” Eagles general manager Howie Roseman told 670 The Score of Cunningham in August. “That’s the way his mind processes information.

“The ultimate compliment I can give Ian is that I'm a better GM because I worked with Ian Cunningham.”

The Jaguars' job was the last general manager position open in this hiring cycle. Cunningham has interviewed for several other top executive jobs, including in January for the Titans' previously open general manager position.
