Bears fire offensive coordinator Shane Waldron

(670 The Score) With their offense struggling, the Bears have made a major change.

The Bears have fired offensive coordinator Shane Waldron, the team announced Tuesday morning. Passing game coordinator Thomas Brown has been promoted to offensive coordinator in Waldron's place.

Waldron was hired by the Bears in January but had failed to lead his unit to success. Chicago's offense has scored just 27 points in its last three games and has gone 23 straight possessions without a touchdown.

The Bears, who are riding a three-game losing streak, rank 24th in scoring and 30th in total offense this season. They managed just 142 total yards of offense in a 19-3 loss to the Patriots on Sunday at Soldier Field.

“After evaluating our entire operation, I decided that it is in the best interest of our team to move in a different direction with the leadership of our offense," Bears head coach Matt Eberflus said in a statement. "This decision was well-thought-out, one that was conducted deliberately and respectfully. I would like to thank Shane for his efforts and wish him the best moving forward.”

Brown interviewed for the Bears' offensive coordinator role back in January. He was the Panthers' offensive coordinator in 2023.

“Thomas is a bright offensive mind who has experience calling plays with a collaborative mindset," Eberflus said. "I look forward to his leadership over our offensive coaching staff and his plan for our players."

The Bears' offensive coordinator role opened in January after the firing of Luke Getsy, who held that position for two seasons. Getsy spent nine games as the Raiders' offensive coordinator this season before he was also fired.

The Bears (4-5) will host the Packers (6-3) on Sunday at Soldier Field.
