LAKE FOREST, Ill. (670 The Score) — The Bears have designated veteran offensive lineman Ryan Bates for a return from injured reserve, they announced Wednesday.
Bates suffered an injury to his elbow/shoulder in the Bears' season opener, reaggravating an injury he suffered in training camp. Chicago acquired him in a trade with Buffalo in March in exchange for a fifth-round pick back.
The 27-year-old Bates is in his sixth NFL season. He spent his first five years with the Bills.
The Bears are in need of depth on their offensive line after injuries to left tackle Braxton Jones (knee), left guard Teven Jenkins (knee) and guard Bill Murray (pectoral) during their loss to the Commanders on Sunday. Murray was placed on injured reserve Tuesday.
The Bears (4-3) visit the Arizona Cardinals (4-4) on Sunday, with kickoff set for 3:05 p.m. CT from State Farm Stadium.
