Quarterback Tyson Bagent agrees to a 2-year contract extension with Bears

(670 The Score) Backup quarterback Tyson Bagent and the Bears have agreed to a two-year contract extension worth $10 million, a source said Wednesday. The deal can reach $16 million with incentives.

Bagent, 25, was entering a contract year and was set to become a restricted free agent after the 2025 season. He was signed by the Bears as an undrafted free agent in 2023.

Bagent has played in nine career NFL games and made four starts, completing 66.2% of his passes for 870 yards, three touchdowns and six interceptions. He's set to serve as the backup behind starting quarterback Caleb Williams this season.

The Bears identified Bagent out of Division-II Shephard University in West Virginia. He has won over the team with his work ethic.

“It means the world," Bagent said Sunday of the support he has received from the team. "That is the best compliment I can think of receiving. It means the world. It allows me to come into the office with as much confidence as I could possibly have. As long as I can feel like that and continue to work as hard as I can – the harder I work the luckier I get. Just trying to keep that thing going.”

Bagent was competing with veteran Case Keenum to become the Bears' No. 2 quarterback behind Williams. Keenum has been sidelined for the last week due to a leg injury.
