Sunday will bring a unique TV special to NBC starring Joe Biden, Michelle Obama, and former President Barack Obama.
The "Roll Up Your Sleeves" special aims to clear some things up regarding the coronavirus vaccine - debunking myths and aiming to improve inoculation rates. The special will be hosted by NFL quarterback Russell Wilson and actor/singer Ciara.
A statement from NBC indicates that Biden will urge Americans to "beat the pandemic, protect loved ones and continue the road to recovery," all through the lens of getting vaccinated.
The special will also see former NBA stars Charles Barkley and Shaquille O'Neal as they work to drive the message home.
Michelle Obama will be joined by Faith Hill, Jennifer Lopez, and Lin-Manual Miranda, while Mattew McConaughey interviews chief medical adviser Anthony Fauci about separating "fact from fiction."
The special comes on the heels of news that Johnson & Johnson's coronavirus vaccine had been paused after several reports of blood clots, leading health officials to question its safety.
Despite the chance of blood clots being low in the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, the CDC indicated on Wednesday that they needed more information before proceeding with the doses.
In a joint statement released Tuesday morning, the Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said the recommendation was made “out of an abundance of caution.”
The special will air on Sunday at 7 pm ET.
