Janson’s wife, Kelly, was awoken by the faint sounds of a smoke alarm in the middle of the night as a fire erupted in Janson’s home studio, which is located beneath the couple’s bedroom. Kelly sprung into action quickly and is being credited for saving her family.

“Thanking God this morning,” Kelly posted on social media along with photos of the damage. “I heard the beep very meekly coming from our downstairs studio/writing room. Luckily I woke up, rushed the kids outside [and] within 10 minutes the Williamson Co. firefighters & Sheriffs arrived… Please check your smoke alarms!! I’m pretty sure mine needs some work.”

After his wife woke him up, Janson immediately started throwing buckets of water onto the flames, trying to salvage what he could until the firefighters arrived.

"I went into survival mode," Janson told People.com. "The fire melted my ottoman and literally created a campfire essentially right in the middle of my studio room. Thankfully, it didn't burn the house… This was a legit, '7-foot flame, taller than me' fire. It was a 'melting my ceiling fan onto my ottoman' fire."

Although a very close call, Janson didn’t let the event stop him from hitting the road to see fans after a year off from touring due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Just one night after the fire, Janson hit the road again to kick off his 2021 tour dates in Mississippi and Georgia.
