County artist Chris Lane and his wife, Lauren Bushnell, were far from celebrating over the holiday weekend as their newborn son Dutton Walker Lane was hospitalized overnight on July 4.

The couple initially took Dutton in believing he had an ear infection and ended up staying 14 hours so the doctors could rule out more serious concerns, including meningitis. One-month-old Dutton underwent tests including a spinal tap out of an abundance of caution.

Chris and Lauren were relieved to return home with the diagnosis of a common cold and ear infection, but continue to be on the look out to make sure his sickness doesn't progress into anything more.
"Thankfully we just have to give him meds and keep an eye and pray it doesn't turn respiratory or get any secondary infections," Lauren shared on Instagram on Monday.
Since then, the couple has followed up with positive updates surrounding Dutton's health and are thanking fans for their prayers.
"Update on Dutton: He seems to be feeling better this morning," Chris wrote on Instagram with a photo of Dutton. "Thank y'all so much for all the prayers. We appreciate them and I know he appreciates it."
"This past weekend wasn't at all how we expected to celebrate a holiday weekend but we are all resting and Dutton seems to be feeling MUCH better!" Lauren wrote for her own update. "Thank you to anyone who prayed for us."
