We’ve all had nearly two weeks to soak up the goodness that is Dustin Lynch’s new album, Killed The Cowboy and over here — it’s still on repeat. Featuring 12 new tracks, the project is full of new sounds, lyrics and according to Lynch, an “introspective look” inside his mind.

Lynch recently opened up to Audacy sharing the inspiration behind this particular album was baring all and letting fans into his every day thoughts. “Really just am introspective look about where I’m at in my life, the conversations I’m having up in my brain,” Lynch said of the motivation behind the project. “Trying to figure out what the best version of me is and taking into account my professional career and my personal life and making sure that balance is where it needs to be.”

The vulnerable approach surely paid off as each passing track ups the bar, resulting in what Lynch is calling his “most confident record.” The 38-year old admits the emotions still hit hard when he hears the songs play through his truck speakers.

“I still remember getting in my truck on a handful of these songs and pretty much just being moved to tears with how proud I was of how they turned out,” he shared. “I’m just still addicted to creating music out of thin air — it’s a magical process.”

He continued, “I think as I continue on with my career I continue to hone in on what I like to sing about night after night on the road but also paying attention to what moves me emotionally… I think my confidence is pretty high on this album just with how proud I am of every song and what each one means to me.”

Admitting he couldn’t do any of it on his own, Lynch is quick to credit his entire team for sticking with him through the creative process and helping his music come to life.

“What makes me most proud about his album is the team around me helping me out with it,” he expressed. “I have the best songwriters and musicians and singers and producers the world has ever made. It’s still just unbelievable I get to work with these guys and girls on a day in and out basis.“
