The crowds at Philadelphia sporting events are notorious for being particularly rowdy and, at times, rather hostile. A GQ article from 2011, for instance, ranked Eagles and Phillies fans No. 2 and No. 1, respectively, on their list of the meanest sports fans in America. Even a limited capacity can't stop that, it appears, and it didn't take long for the fans in attendance for the Giants-Phillies game on Monday night to demonstrate why they have that reputation when they showed some "love" for their team's former manager.

And it only gets worse when the game isn't exactly an exciting one. That happened to be the case in as early as the fourth inning, with some frustration mounting due to missed opportunities. In the first frame, the Phils left two runners on base. In the second, it was three up, three down. In the third, two more runners were left stranded. And although the bottom of the fourth presented yet another opportunity, with runners on second and third with two outs, it seems as though a select group of fans were focusing on another prevalent issue in Philly sports.

Two things happened as a result: 1) Eagles general manager Howie Roseman was not fired, and 2) Brad Miller grounded out, leaving yet another pair of runners stranded on base to end the inning.

According to those who were at the game, fans also chanted "E-A-G-L-E-S" during the contest, as well as "M-V-P." Who were those for? It may have been for Bryce Harper, as he finished with a 3-4 performance to up his season slash line to an impressive .327/.459/.571, though that's unlikely considering the outcome of the game. It may have been for 76ers star Joel Embiid, who truly deserves MVP recognition to this point in the season and who was playing at the same time as the Phillies, just across the way from Citizens Bank Park at Wells Fargo Center. And it may have been for Steph Curry, who also happened to be at Wells Fargo Center and was absolutely annihilating the 76ers. Those wouldn't have been the only MVP chants that Curry got on the night.

The Bay Area came to Philadelphia with a purpose on Monday night, and the reactions from the home crowds helped to demonstrate exactly what went down.
