Following the announcement that the show will return November 10, Costner — who has played Dutton for 4 -and-a-half seasons took to social media to share with fans he will not be making a return in order to focus on his own creative venture, Horizon.
“Hi everyone. I just want to reach out and let you know that after this long year and a half of working on Horizon and doing all the things that's required, and thinking about Yellowstone — that beloved series that I love — that I know you love. I just realized that I'm not going to be able to continue Season 5b or into the future,” he shared.
“It was something that really changed me. I loved it, and I know you loved it,” he continued. “I love the relationship we've been able to develop, and I'll see you at the movies.”
The second half of season five was originally set to premiere in November 2023, however, the writer’s strike put an indefinite delay on the production process leaving the future of the show up in the air for an entire year.
Four weeks ago, Yellowstone revealed that production had resumed and just this week shared the new season with premiere November 10 on Paramount Network. Aside from Costner, all other stars including Luke Grimes [Kayce Dutton], Kelly Reilly [Beth Dutton], Wes Bentley [Jamie Dutton], Cole Hauser [Rip Wheeler], Kelsey Asbille [Monica Dutton], and series co-creator Taylor Sheridan [Travis] are expected to return to the screen.
The new season premieres November 10 on Paramount.
