DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - After 11 NFL seasons, Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee is calling it a career.

"It's been a complete honor," Lee told ESPN. "I've been blessed to play for the incredible Jones family, with such great coaches and teammates that I love like brothers. I loved every minute playing and tried to pour my heart, soul into winning and helping my teammates at all costs.

"To say the injuries were frustrating would be an understatement, but the support I received through them all was humbling and the lessons I learned battling adversity will last a lifetime. There are always regrets but I'm proud of what I was able to accomplish and I leave this game grateful."

Lee also released a letter to the organization and the fans later Monday. You can read it below.

Cowboys COO Stephen Jones declined to say whether or not Lee had decided to retire when he joined the K&C Masterpiece on Monday.

"We've had a lot of discussions with Sean. Obviously, he's just a special guy to us. He's been a great leader for us, a great football player," Jones said. (We're) having discussions about what our future is gonna be. But I think he's the right one to speak to that, and until he does that, we're going to wait and see what he has to say."

Lee was a two-time Pro Bowler and a first-team All-Pro selection during his time in Dallas. The 34-year-old had 14 career interceptions, five fumble recoveries and four sacks in his career. He had 995 tackles, making him eighth in franchise history.

Unfortunately for Lee, he'll always be remembered by Cowboys fans as a player who struggled to stay healthy. Lee missed 58 out of a possible 176 career games due to a number of injuries he suffered.

Lee suffered knee, hamstring, toe, neck and core-muscle injuries in his career. He also missed time with concussion issues.

He missed the beginning of the 2020 season after undergoing a sports hernia procedure but was able to return and play in nine games.

This is a developing news story.
