The song is the follow-up to Davis’ most-recent #1, “What My World Spins Around,” from the same album. “Tucson Too Late,” was co-written by Davis alongside his brother Jacob Davis and brothers Josh and Matt Jenkins, the same team that penned his mega hit with Luke Bryan, “Buy Dirt.”
“I really like the way we kept this very simple, we let the lyrics speak, we tried to really just kinda make the listener feel the kinda worry that this guy was going through trying to get this girl back,” Davis said of the song in a statement.
“I think Paul [DiGiovanni] absolutely nailed the production on it in letting the vocals speak and letting the lyrics shine. And I think too, like it’s something that I’ve never done. I don’t think I’ve ever released a song that is as maybe traditional as this one. You know, stuff like this is what I grew up on. Being able to have a song like this out that has this kinda feel, I don’t know, for me it’s fun.”
“Tucson Too Late” is available now.
