“The last 20 years has been like drinking out of a fire hydrant and trying to hang on,” Zac told Audacy’s Katie Neal. “This [mandatory quarantine] allowed us to reflect on things and what really mattered and start from a clean plate and just add back the things that you really miss.“
Brown admits the first few months were a tough adjustment after being on the road for so many years, but the peace he found after settling in was unlike anything he’d ever experienced before.
“After about two or three months I started being like, really, truly creatively present for the first time in a really long time,” Zac said. “During this time, I found kind of a calm and a peace and a rejuvenation for my love of just playing my guitar. I haven’t played my guitar at home much… This last year, I played my guitar at home more than I ever have… it put me in the headspace to want to write.”
Fans will get to experience the product of Brown’s newly-found peace with a brand new album by Zac Brown Band in the near future. The group gave fans the first taste of what’s to come with the recent release of the album’s first single, “Same Boat.”
“This is an epic, epic album,” Brown said. “We have never had an album more epic than this one… I’m excited. This is definitely our masterpiece so far.”
