VIDEO: Attorney General releases body cam footage from Daniel Prude arrest

Rochester, N.Y. (WBEN) - New York Attorney General Letitia James Friday released police body-worn camera footage(see below) obtained by her office in the investigation into the death of Daniel Prude.

During a confrontation with the Rochester Police Department, Prude was not breathing and had no pulse after he was restrained and handcuffed by officers in March. He died seven days later after being taken off life support.

Prude's death was ruled a homicide and a grand jury investigation is ongoing.

In releasing the video, James stated; "Our criminal justice system is in need of significant reform to rebuild the trust between police and the communities they serve," said Attorney General James. "Key to that reform is increased transparency, which is why I am proactively releasing video footage from our active investigations into police-involved killings. All of our communities deserve transparency, accountability, and justice, and I believe this is a critical step in moving us forward."
