Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550/WBEN) - One of the best international rivalries in all of sports will be on display in Downtown Buffalo this coming November.
The Buffalo Sabres announced on Monday the U.S. Women’s National ice hockey team will be coming to KeyBank Center on Saturday, Nov. 8 to face the Canadian Women’s National ice hockey team as part of the 2025 Rivalry Series.
The United States and Canada have been heated rivals in women's ice hockey over the years, with both nations squaring off in several big games in a number of prominent tournaments. This includes six of the seven Winter Olympic Games that women's ice hockey has been included, with Canada winning four of those Gold Medal Games.
It is likely that both nations will also be competing, once again, in the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy for a gold medal.
Meanwhile, in the history of the IIHF Women's World Championship, the U.S. and Canada have matched up in the Gold Medal Game in all but one of the 24 tournaments held to this point. Canada leads the all-time head-to-head matchup 12-11.
However, it was the U.S. getting the upper hand in the 2025 tournament in Czechia, winning 4-3 in overtime in the Gold Medal Game thanks to a goal from Tessa Janecke.
"This is a unique opportunity to showcase the two teams that have met in the Gold Medal Game at each of the last four Winter Olympics, and I think hockey fans on both sides of the border will come together to create a phenomenal atmosphere for the game," said Sabres COO Pete Guelli in a team statement on Monday. "These are the best players in the world and we’re honored to be able to feature these two outstanding teams right here in Buffalo just a few months before the 2026 Winter Olympics."
Rocket Arena in Cleveland, Ohio will host the opening game on Thursday, Nov. 6, while KeyBank Center will host Game 2 on Saturday, Nov. 8.
Puck drop for the game in Cleveland will be at 7 p.m., while puck drop in Buffalo will be at 6 p.m.
Tickets will go on sale for the Nov. 6 game in Cleveland this Friday at 10 a.m., while tickets for the Nov. 8 game in Buffalo will be available to purchase this Thursday at 10 a.m.

Canada will host the final two games of the series in December 2025.
