Wings of Rescue flies in 70 Cats to Ten Lives Club for second chance

"We have the capacity to get these cats adopted, and we're happy to bring them into Western New York"

Cheektowaga, N.Y. (WBEN) - Dozens of cats, once on death row, are now looking for their forever homes in Western New York after being flown in from Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. on Saturday.

Kimberly LaRussa, Founder of Sweet Buffalo, says all 72 cats will be cared for by Ten Lives Club as part of Wings of Rescue’s mission, where they traveled from California to Florida, then New Hampshire, and finally Cheektowaga—delivering over 190 cats and six dogs to rescues committed to taking them.

"They are all in good health. They are all spayed and neutered. They have all their vaccines. So you should be seeing these cats up for adoption next week in our adoption locations across Western New York. But really excited to be able to help with these cats. Unfortunately, cats and dogs get euthanized simply for space a lot of times in different states. So we're happy at 10 lives club. We have the room, we have the capacity to get these cats adopted and happy to bring them into Western New York," stated LaRussa in an interview with WBEN."

Wings of Rescue, a non-profit organization, saves at-risk pets by airlifting them from overcrowded shelters and disaster areas to safe havens where they can be adopted.

"Western New York is a very animal loving community. Oftentimes, the rescues in Western New York, whether it's dogs or cats, they don't take these animals unless they know they can get them placed into a forever home. Especially with the dogs. The dogs usually already have fosters willing and able to take these animals into their homes. Same with Ten Lives Club. We have hundreds of fosters in our network that want to save these cats, that want them to come to Western New York. We always have placement for them prior, whether that's a foster or an adopter, before they come here. And we know that we can get these cats adopted very quickly."
