Report: Dak Prescott signs Franchise Tender, Not Close To Long-Term Deal

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Per a report from David Helman of DallasCowboys.com, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has officially signed his $31.409M exclusive franchise tag with the team and is locked into the 2020 season.

The two sides now have until July 15th to work out a long term extension, but per a separate report from NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, there is no indication of a deal being any closer to an agreement. 

Prescott's most recent offer, per 105.3 The Fan's Mike Fisher, was upwards of $35 million per year for five years, and more than $106 million guaranteed. However, where the deal has been at an impasse for both sides, is with Prescott's reported desire of a 4-year deal. 

By signing the franchise tag, Prescott will now be the highest-paid Cowboy ever for a single season, while the on the table extension would make him one of the highest-paid players in the history of the NFL.

The $31.409 million number will also make Prescott the seventh-highest paid quarterback in the NFL next season, sitting just above the Atlanta Falcons' Matt Ryan, and just below the Philadelphia Eagles' Carson Wentz.
