Man Paralyzed In MTA Accident Awarded $110 Million

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — A Brooklyn jury awarded $110 million to a man who was paralyzed by an MTA accident three years ago.

Robert Liciaga was riding his bike in Bushwick underneath the elevated train tracks, when a worker waived him through a construction zone.

Moments later, workers dropped a railroad tie on him that left him paralyzed from the waist down.

The now-26-year-old lives at a nursing facility and was not in court when the verdict was announced.
