NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- New York could join 12 others states, including Connecticut and the District of Columbia, by giving driver's licenses to undocumented immigrants.

Legislation is pending in Albany, and now Brooklyn DA Eric Gonzalez says he will support the plan.

In a statement, Gonzalez said he says he believes that when all drivers are properly licensed, road-tested and insured, safety improves.
