NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — A musician from Belmar is holding a weekly, virtual concert to benefit local charities.

Typically, Pat Roddy would play clubs at the Jersey Shore and in the city.

Now, he is doing Facebook concerts in his living room and in just three weeks, he’s managed to raised about $3,000.

“The first week was for the food bank, the second week was for interfaith neighbors, the third week was for a New York City Foundation which was Gilda’s Club,” Roddy said.

It feels good helping others, he tells WCBS 880’s Peter Haskell.

“It hits you, know what you're doing and you know it's for a good cause. I almost want to cry,” he said.

It's also therapeutic for him.

“It's helped me get through this. This is my way of helping myself get through this,” Roddy said.

The Wednesday night shows are on the Pat Roody Band Facebook page.
