NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — While the coronavirus pandemic has canceled most theater productions, the shows must go on.

One off-Broadway show is going way off Broadway and setting up at the Four Brothers Drive-In Theater in Dutchess County.

Producer Melissa Jones says they are taking the musical, “SuperYou,” upstate in the back of five pick-up trucks and they can’t wait to perform.

“We knew that the audience was already taken care of in terms of an acceptable way of being able to be socially distanced and then what we did is we sat down and say, ‘okay how to we come up with a stage that socially distances,’” she explains.

Hence the pick-up trucks.

Their show was scheduled to open in May, but it didn't happen.

Jones feels the moment is right, now.

“The music is incredibly uplifting. The whole show uplifting, empowering and very timely,” she said.

“SuperYou” is about a woman who creates superheroes and finds her own superpowers within herself.

Shows are Saturday and Sunday and tickets can be purchased at superyoumusical.com.
