Jogger stabs driver 11 times after brush at LI gas station: police

CENTEREACH, N.Y. (WCBS 880) -- A jogger stabbed a driver 11 times after the two had a brief confrontation outside a Long Island gas station on Thursday night, police said.

The 49-year-old victim suffered serious injuries in the stabbing just after 8 p.m. on Middle Country Road in Centereach, according to Suffolk County police. He was at Stony Brook University Hospital on Friday.

The victim was driving a vehicle with three passengers into the entrance of the Shell gas station at Middle Country and Holbrook roads as an 18-year-old man was jogging past, police said.

It’s unclear exactly what happened, but the jogger yelled at the driver and then continued jogging westbound down Middle Country Road.

The driver got gas and then continued westbound down Middle Country Road, where he encountered the jogger.

The driver parked and exited the vehicle to confront the jogger, according to police.

The two men got into a physical confrontation, and the jogger stabbed the driver 11 times with a knife in front of 2410 Middle Country Rd., police said.

An investigation eventually led police to the alleged stabber, Matthew Ulloa, of Ronkonkoma.

Ulloa was charged with second-degree assault and was scheduled to be arraigned Friday.
