NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 78-year-old man flipped his vehicle over the side of an elevated portion of the Henry Hudson Parkway on Thursday afternoon, sending the car crashing into a construction site underneath the overpass, according to police.

The crash took place just after 1 p.m. on the parkway near the intersection of 135th Street and 12th Avenue in Manhattanville, officials said.

The driver lost control of his vehicle while driving northbound on the parkway and flipped off of the overpass.

Police are not sure what caused the motorist to lose control.

Emergency responders pulled the man from his wrecked car and rushed him to Mount Sinai Morningside in critical condition, according to the FDNY.
