NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A driver is facing DWI charges following a fatal multi-car collision that happened on a Queens expressway early Sunday.
At approximately 4:30 a.m., police responded to a multiple-vehicle collision on the eastbound Long Island Expressway at Greenpoint Avenue in Long Island City.
A preliminary investigation by the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad determined that a 2021 Honda Accord operated by 24-year-old Reginald Nash, who was traveling eastbound on the Long Island Expressway when it struck a crash attenuator at the Greenpoint Avenue overpass.
As the Honda Accord struck the attenuator, it began to rotate clockwise, causing it to collide with a 2018 Toyota Rav4 driven by a 44-year-old male, colliding into the Honda Accord.
The Rav4 then struck a 2021 Kia Telluride operated by a 51-year-old man.
Five people were inside the Honda Accord at the time of the collision, officials said.
Cameron Mency, a 23-year-old passenger, was ejected from the vehicle and she was later pronounced dead at NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue.
EMS transported two 22-year-old women and a 36-year-old woman to NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst in critical condition.
The drivers of all three vehicles remained at the scene and were uninjured.
Nash, the driver of the Honda Accord, was arrested and charged with vehicular manslaughter and driving while intoxicated.
The investigation remains ongoing.
