NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A driver hit a police officer while fleeing a traffic stop in the Bronx on Tuesday, according to the NYPD.

Officers pulled over a black Mercedes Benz for a traffic violation around 5:20 p.m. near East 173rd Street and Clay Avenue in Claremont, according to officials.

As one of the officers was conducting the stop, the driver allegedly sped off.

Police were able to pull the motorist over a second time. The driver took off again, but not before backing up into the officer who was conducting the stop, authorities said.

The officer reportedly suffered minor injuries to his knee, leg and wrist. He was brought to a local hospital in stable condition.

Law enforcement later found the vehicle abandoned.

Police have not yet made any arrests.
