NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The Yankees are teaming up with New York Blood Center with free tickets for the first 250 donors at a Yankee Stadium blood drive on July 6.
The earliest donors will receive a voucher for two free tickets to select Yankees home games.
The drive comes during a region-wide blood shortage.
“We are honored to partner with the New York Blood Center to support this essential cause,” said Brian Smith, Yankees Senior Vice President of Corporate and Community Relations. “As the region’s blood shortage continues, we encourage Yankees fans to donate blood and help their fellow New Yorkers. Contributing to this vital resource truly makes a difference in advancing the overall well-being of our community and we are thrilled to reward our fans’ participation.”
The NYBC declared a blood emergency in May due to low blood donation rates.
Blood banks try to keep a five- to seven-day supply available. The region is currently at a two- to three-day level.
Blood donations also tend to drop around holidays as people travel and celebrate, so the drive comes at an ideal time.
The drive will run from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Yankee Stadium Gate 4.
