NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police is searching for a knife-wielding man who threw a stolen drink at a deli worker in Queens earlier this month, authorities said Thursday.
At approximately 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, the suspect entered the South Hempstead Deli located at 218-60 Hempstead Ave. in Queens Village, officials said.
Once inside, the suspect removed a beverage and proceeded to pass all points of sale without paying for the item.
When a 19-year-old employee approached the suspect outside of the deli in an attempt to recover the stolen item, the suspect threw the item at him and proceeded to display a knife, cops said.
The employee was able to flee back into the store safely without sustaining any injuries.
The suspect fled the location southbound on Springfield Boulevard on foot.
Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
