EAST MEADOW, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- Officials arrested a 36-year-old man accused of attacking a nurse at a Long Island hospital late Sunday night.
At about 11 p.m., officers responded to the Nassau University Medical Center located at 2201 Hempstead Turnpike where a registered nurse, 35, was caring for Fidel Velasquez.
According to detectives, Velasquez became combative and kicked the victim multiple times in her right arm causing substantial pain and minor bruising.
The victim was evaluated and treated by hospital staff at scene.
Officers arrested Velasquez without further incident.
Velasquez was charged with second-degree assault and will be arraigned when medically practical, officials said.
