NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — Severe thunderstorms with the potential to bring hail, damaging wind gusts and possible downpours are moving into the Tri-State area.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for the New York City area until 8 p.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
The storms are expected to cut through the haze that has settled over New York City as smoke from the Oregon wildfires continue to move eastward.
Weather conditions are expected to improve later on in the day, with some hazy sunshine predicted to break through in the evening hours.
On Thursday, it’s possible some showers may return in the morning, but the rest of the say with be partly clouded with lower humidity levels.
