NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Seven children with special needs were among those onboard a school bus that hit a tree on Staten Island Friday afternoon, police said.
The crash happened around 2:30 p.m. near Bloomingdale Road and Ramona Avenue.
Police said the bus struck a low-hanging branch, which caused the bus driver to lose control and strike the tree.
The driver was taken to Staten Island University Hospital with minor injuries.
The children, who range in age from 5 to 7 years old, were taken to the same hospital out of precaution. Police said none of them are injured.
