NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad is investigating the hit-and-run death of a 72-year-old woman in Brooklyn last week, authorities said.

Just before 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 16, police responded to a 911 call of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Marine Avenue and 96th Street in Fort Hamilton.

Upon arrival, officers observed Anne-Marie Wiesner, lying underneath a parked vehicle, unconscious and unresponsive with severe head and body trauma.

EMS pronounced Wiesner dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation determined that the pedestrian was attempting to cross Marine Avenue eastbound when she was struck by an unknown dark-colored sedan.

The vehicle did not remain at the scene.

The investigation remains ongoing.
