NJ man injured after putting spray paint can in home's oven, causing explosion

LONG BRANCH, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A 78-year-old New Jersey man was seriously injured after he put a spray paint can in the oven of his home and turned up the heat causing an explosion, NBC 4 reported. 


The man, whose identity has not yet been released, was described by one neighbor as recluse and was allegedly heard talking to himself as he was being put in an ambulance after the incident.

A kitchen window at the man’s home was blown out as a result of the explosion and the home suffered other damages shown in video footage from the scene.

The man is expected to survive his injuries and an investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
