The Mets have quietly won seven of their last 10 games, and throttled the first-place Braves 10-4 in Atlanta on Monday night.
New York’s hot streak is vindication for Tiki, who says it’s almost times for fans to reinvest in the 2023 club, a month after throwing in the towel on what many considered to be the most disappointing season in franchise history.
“I told you so,” Tiki told Loogy. “It wasn’t just the winning…it was the guys who were supposed to be playing well, started playing well.
“Alonso is mashing…McNeil is looking like the batting champ again. Nimmo has been fantastic, already has a career high in home runs. Lindor, who people like to hate on for some reason, he’s been amazing. Obviously with the glove, but also with the stick.”
Tiki says he is one more win in Atlanta away from being back in on the Mets, at least in terms of the season not being as dead as many assumed after the trade deadline.
“If they take two of three or sweep the Braves, Mets fans, you better start believing again and chase the playoffs,” Tiki said. “They won’t do anything once they get there. The Braves are better, the Dodgers are way better, everybody’s better. But it’s better to have something than nothing at all.”
