Deputy House Minority Leader Anne Neu joins Blois to discuss Gov. Tim Walz role in the budget negotiations, Trump’s influence in the 2020 elections and how Minnesota DFLers are starting to look like DC Democrats on “radical” proposals.

Beers with Blois is available on the Radio.com app, Apple podcasts, Stitcher and Google Play

Highlights from Ann Neu in this episode:

On Gov. Tim Walz and the balance of power:

“One thing that we pinpointed acutely, a real transition is that the Governor was very involved in negotiations.  We have to look at evaluate how much authority we are ceding to the Governor.  He had pre-emptive veto authority.  I’m not sure that’s the way we want to move forward.  We have checks and balances for a reason.”

On the best food and state  on Hwy. 8:

“We’ve got the beautiful lakes but its only 45 minutes from Minneapolis-St. Paul.  They are very accessible.  We’ve got Interstate State Park.  We’ve got some real treasures in our community. We’ve got a new brewery, The Uncommon Loon, the Lindstrom Bakery, the Swedish Inn.  Anyone who stops that Highway 8 corridor should stop at the Swedish Inn.”

On the Donald Trump and the 2020 Election:

“Minnesota is a microcosm of what’s happening nationally Democrats have taken control of the Congress, and there’s some pretty radical personalities and ideas being put forward.  Like I said, we’re seeing the same here in Minnesota in our little microcosm.  I think President Trump was an issue here in Minnesota in the last election.  Like I’ve said, they know what they are voting against, I’m not real sure they know what they are voting for.”
