Parts of Minnesota were not spared the rolling blackouts triggered by massive power outages in the Southern US.
Officials in Moorhead say they were given less than a half-hour to prepare for rolling blackouts by the company that operates the city's power system, Southwest Power Pool.
Travis Schmidt, general manager for Moorhead Public Service, says the blackout affected about 5,000 customers.
“It was something out of our control, and it happened so fast we couldn’t alert everyone before it happened," Schmidt told KFGO Radio in Fargo.
The blackouts started around 10 AM Tuesday and stopped before noon, but could return this evening, according to the Fargo Forum.
