Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR 550) - The Buffalo Bills will begin their 2022 regular season in Los Angeles, as they open the NFL schedule on Thursday, Sept. 8 against the Super Bowl champion Rams. The announcement of the game took place on Thursday just two hours before the official schedule release for the 2022 season.
The matchup represents two of the top teams in the NFL. Most sportsbooks currently list both teams as two of the favorites to win Super Bowl LVII in Arizona. FanDuel Sportsbook currently lists the Bills as the favorite to win it all, with the Rams currently holding the fourth-best odds.
The game will be televised on NBC with kickoff scheduled for 8:20 p.m. ET. This contest will give the league a chance to showcase Bills quarterback Josh Allen, who is one of the early front-runners for the 2022 NFL MVP award.
It will also mark the return of pass rusher Von Miller to Los Angeles, as he faces his former team. The defensive end was traded to the Rams during last season from the Denver Broncos, then went on to help Los Angeles win Super Bowl LVI on home field.
Miller ended up signing a six-year, $120 million contract with the Bills in March.
The last time the two teams matched up against one another, the Bills won a 35-32 thriller in Week 3 of the 2020 season in Orchard Park.
