LOVELINE: Habits That Will Likely Push Your Partner Away

When one member of a couple drifts emotionally or seems "checked-out" of the relationship, it can be a response to their partner developing habitual problematic behaviors. 

Listen we get it and some of these infrequent behaviors are manageable, but hunny we are going to unpack these problems and hopefully give you a better chance at staying with your partner. 


The 1st is Too much criticism. The golden ratio for communication is that 80 percent of what you say should be positive or neutral and only 20 percent should be critical or directive.

The 2nd is Uneven match of argument or relationship-talk skills. When the partner who does not communicate the best in a relationship may not have the best advantage in an argument, and may eventually shut themselves out.

The 3rd is Lack of empathy to emotional distress. This is when one partner is feeling emotional distress and is looking to be heard and comforted, but seldom finds it. It is common for the unsupported partner to withdraw and seek to fulfill those emotional needs elsewhere.

The 4th is Ignoring important complaints. This would be complaints that are brought up repeatedly that arent addressed which will make them feel dismissed and neglected.

The 5th is Technoference. This is when you spend more time looking at your technological devices than you do your partner.
