New charges have been filed against Anderson Lee Aldrich, the alleged Club Q shooter who's been accused of killing five people at the Colorado Springs queer bar on November 19.
On January 9th, prosecutors filed a motion for 12 new charges against Aldrich as the investigation into what happened that night has unearthed more details. Court documents show that the new charges include attempted assault, attempted murder, serious bodily injury with a deadly weapon, and bias-motivated crime.
In December, Aldrich was formally charged with 305 counts, including hate crimes and murder, after they opened fire in Club Q, killing five and injuring 18 others.
While Aldrich has not yet publicly stated a motive in the crime, their neighbor said that they regularly used anti-gay slurs, their grandfather is a MAGA Republican lawmaker who supported the January 6 insurrection, and Aldrich's father expressed anti-LGBTQ+ sentiment when he learned that Aldrich allegedly killed five people.
In court filings immediately after the shooting, Aldrich's lawyer referred to them with he/him pronouns. But by the Tuesday after the shooting, the lawyer said that Aldrich is nonbinary and uses they/them pronouns and wants to be addressed as Mx. Aldrich.
