CNN reports that Ben & Jerry's is accusing its parent company, Unilever, of violating its merger agreement by firing the ice cream brand's CEO over his public support for progressive causes.
The complaint adds to a growing list of grievances against Unilever, including claims the company tried to silence Ben & Jerry's on social media – by blocking posts on progressive issues that mentioned Trump.
A February post celebrating Black History Month was also allegedly blocked.
Ben and Jerry's have been supporters of progressive issues and causes for generations.
This latest move is another reminder of how brands, politicians and media organizations are caving to the authoritarian-style pressures organized by the Trump administration.
