At Washington National Cathedral's inaugural prayer service on Tuesday, Episcopal Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde delivered a powerful message urging President Donald Trump to show "mercy" toward LGBTQ+ individuals and immigrants. Budde also told Trump that people in our country are scared of his presidency.
Addressing the President directly from the pulpit, she reminded him of the fear many LGBTQ+ children face, and called for compassion towards immigrants, emphasizing that most are not criminals but valuable, contributing members of society.
No surprise dismissed the service, telling reporters, "I didn't think it was a good service," and is demanding an apology.
The service is tradition for incoming presidents, highlights important issues of justice and humanity at a pivotal moment.
