Massachusetts has just taken a bold step to protect reproductive and gender-affirming care. Governor Maura Healey — the nation's first out lesbian governor — signed the Shield Act 2.0 into law, strengthening protections for patients and providers.
The law blocks out-of-state efforts to punish people seeking care in Massachusetts and bars local authorities from helping with those investigations. It also adds new privacy safeguards for medical records.
Healey says the state is sending a clear message: "No one will stop us from getting the care we need."
