NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A resident was beaten with a metal pipe on their Brooklyn stoop because they’re gender nonconforming, police said Wednesday as they released images of two suspects sought in the attack.

The NYPD’s Hate Crime Task Force is investigating last Monday’s unprovoked assault in Williamsburg.

The victim, 33, was sitting on the front steps of their home at Boerum Street and Bushwick Avenue around 5 p.m. when they were approached by two males, according to cops.

The duo spewed insults at the victim related to their gender, then picked up a metal pipe and bashed them in the head with it, police said. The pair then fled the scene.

The victim suffered bruising to their head but declined further medical attention at the scene.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
