E.R. Fightmaster on 'Grey's Anatomy,' their EP 'Violence,' and more

'This is all my thoughts and feelings, so it does kind of feel like this oil spill in a nice way'

E.R. Fightmaster joined CHANNEL Q's DJ Alex to talk all about their role on Grey's Anatomy, their name, their EP Violence, and more.

LISTEN NOW: E.R. Fightmaster joins DJ Alex D on CHANNEL Q

"When I joined Grey's and it was like 'E.R. Fightmaster, first non-binary doctor on Grey's Anatomy' everyone thought that E.R. Fightmaster was a spinoff," they explained. Thinking "it was a show called E.R. Fightmaster, about a non-binary doctor, and I didn't correct anyone," quipping, "yeah, that's 100% what it is." Oh and for those who didn't already know, E.R. clarified, "Fightmaster is my actual last name."

Last October, Fightmaster released their five-song debut EP, Violence, which according to the official press release is described as a "fiery body of work" filled with "musing folk, rock, and funk" that takes "listeners on a journey through their Queer Wild West."

Noting they find themselves needing to behave themselves for many of their public-eye jobs such as acting, when it comes to music, E.R. finds it cathartic to be able to let go. "I'm not writing for anybody, I'm not acting anybody else's words, I'm not producing anybody else's art. This is all my thoughts and feelings, so it does kind of feel like this oil spill in a nice way."

E.R. also shared about starting out as a travel comedian, then taking on the role of actor, and now singer/songwriter, noting how writing the music for their comedy sketch shows ultimately lead them to where they are now.

For all that and more, and to find out if E.R. is working on new music and what comes next, listen to the entire conversation above.
