Kylie Minogue on how 'Tension II' came about, and her upcoming 'TENSION Tour'

'I just felt the momentum and it turned from a repack into a body of work'

Kylie Minogue recently stopped by for a chat with CHANNEL Q’s Corey Crockett all about her new album, Tension II, her upcoming TENSION Tour, and more.

Delving right into discussing everything she's been up to which has included a Vegas Residency, the success of “Padam Padam,” winning a GRAMMY, dropping Tension II, plus planning and now gearing up to set out on her TENSION Tour, just to name a few. Curious, Corey asked Kylie, what it was about 2023’s Tension that made her want go back and revisit that era?

“Well, it did well, it was received well,” Kylie expressed, calling her success with “Padam Padam” as “lightning in a bottle,” so she “wanted to ride the wave.”

“As we know a lot of albums now, you do the little bump up a little reboot of the album, a repack,” Minogue acknowledged. “But I think because of the success of 'Tension,' there was some great songs that came my way. I just felt the momentum and it turned from a repack into a body of work.”

Gearing up to take the show on the road, Kylie will be touring U.S. for the first time in a very long time.

Kylie also went on to chat about some of the iconic venues she has performed in, MSG being one, what takeaways from her residency, that limitations aside, she’s tried to incorporate into her tour. As well as the pressures she feels that come with putting on an entertaining and dynamic show, and how she positively flipped those feelings into reassurance to be part of the incredible Pop diva resurgence from this past summer, listing off Charli XCX, Sabrina Carpenter, and Chappell Roan as examples.

To close out their convo, Keeping in mind that CHANNEL’s notion that Pride is 365, to close out their convo Corey asked Kylie, “if you had to choose a pride anthem, what would you pick?”

Like an true icon, Kylie chose one of her tunes, “Maybe I'd choose one of mine,” she stated, choosing “All The Lovers,” noting “it's not limited to being a pride anthem,” but that it has been adopted as such.
