If you've already submitted your 2020 MLB playoff predictions, you may have to make some adjustments.
With just over 24 hours until the Washington Nationals are scheduled to host the New York Yankees, RADIO.COM MLB Insider Jon Heyman says that the sport is still weighing expanding their postseason format for the 2020 season:
If a postseason expansion is agreed to, it will presumably only be tried on a one-year basis, like the universal DH and runner on second base to begin extra innings. However, more games equals more money for owners. It's hard to imagine owners making more television money off of extra postseason games in 2020, and then deciding to eliminate the additional playoff spots in 2021, when fans may be allowed to return to games.
The Nationals are scheduled to host the Yankees on Thursday at 7:08 p.m. ET in the first game of the abbreviated 2020 season. One would think they would like to know how many postseason spots are up for grabs in 2020 when they wake up Thursday morning.
