Tom Brady actually managed to pull off (somewhat) normal outfit at Met Gala

There was no shortage of bizarre outfits at the 2019 Met Gala: Lady Gaga carried a 25-foot dress into the proceedings; Jared Leto came bearing his own decapitated head while sporting a Gucci gown; Odell Beckham Jr. didn’t wear any pants. The annual charity event is a celebration of creativity. It is a place where eccentricities are meant to be highlighted, not minimized.

Tom Brady fit into that theme last year, wearing a black tuxedo with gold plates on the lapel. But unfortunately for the Patriots’ QB, his James Bond villain meets Steven Seagal look was universally panned.

On Monday, Brady went with a more traditional tuxedo, which is the right choice for him. He wore a sleek maroon velvet jacket with white dress shirt and black bowtie. Gisele Bundchen wore a stunning pink gown as well, meaning New England’s first couple matched on the runway.

While Bunchen is usually thought of as the fashion icon in the household, she insists her husband is the one who pushes the boundaries. "I've never in my life told him to wear anything," she told the Wall Street Journal’s Jason Gay last year. "You should see our closets….It's so funny. I would say that he likes fashion more than I like fashion. I would say he's changed his haircut in one year more than I've changed in my whole life.”

So make no mistake: it seems like Brady is the one who sets the Met Gala theme. This year, the couple’s look was the fashion equivalent of a perfect touchdown pass.
